Ingredients
- 2 cans (19 oz. each) kidney beans
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
- 1 tbsp. garlic
- 1 lb. lean ground round steak
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 1/2 - 3 tsp.. chili powder
Instructions
Drain beans, reserving 2 cups liquid (If necessary, add water to make 2 cups).Heat margarine in large pan. Add onion and garlic and cook until tender. Add meat and brown. Stir in reserved bean liquid, water, salt and chili powder. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Uncover, add beans and continue cooking, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes. Serve hot
